Dave Robson was born and raised in London, England, and first came to the USA in 2000 on a mission trip to raise funds for Cry in the Dark (a charity that works in Romania with children and adults with special needs). With Dave as their worship leader, the team continued making annual trips to the US, and in their 2003 trip Dave met and married his wife Jessi of Tucson. Settling in Sierra Vista, Dave served as worship leader for the troops stationed at Ft. Huachuca, and in about 2004 Dave began sharing his songs with the GJs Coffeehouse crowd and at other churches and venues around town. In 2006 or 2007 this gifted singer-songwriter was called to become the worship pastor at Calvary Christian Fellowship of Tucson, and since then his focus has been on ministry within the church, raising a family (son named London, with a girl on the way), growing in the Word, and deepening his relationship with the Lord.

Then, "after about a 3 year break from doing much with the songs God has given me, I believe...God is ushering me to get outside the walls of my church again and share some of those songs... So here goes nothing." We're delighted that GJs Coffeehouse will be the venue for Dave's first show in this new season of his life and ministry - Saturday Feb.13!

Dave Robson has always been one of my very favorite singers and songwriters, with a talent and style that can honestly be compared to Pierce Pettis, Bebo Norman, Marc Cohn, James Taylor, and Martyn Joseph. But what impresses me most about this special brother - beyond the musical gift God has given him - is his obvious love for the Lord, resonating in every song.

Wherever Jonathan Martinez performs his original guitar compositions, crowds fall silent, listening and watching with amazement. The unconventional methods - use of multiple capos, tapping, elbow percussion, upside-down playing, etc. - are really to be seen AND heard to get the full effect. Jonathan credits guitar virtuoso Trace Bundy as his strongest influence, not only for his bold techniques, but spiritually, as well. Like Bundy, Jonathan recognizes his gift as coming from God, for the purpose of motivating other musicians, friends, and family to stay true to Him. Tucson has always been Jonathan's home, but I don't doubt that God has bigger plans for this young guitarist. We count it a privilege to have heard (and watched!) Jonathan play at GJs at least a few times now, and are happy to have him with us again on Feb.13th!

When the Kings Kids had to cancel, it didn't take me long to decide which GJs favorites to call on - local artists who hadn't done a GJs gig for a while. Tyler Akin was toward the top of my list - I had been thinking about booking him again ever since my wife and I went to a Rescue Lights concert, where a bearded Tyler did some background vocals for one of their songs. Intensely committed to making great music, Tyler has also been busy in ministry at Catalina Foothills Church in Tucson. I'm pretty excited that Tyler Akin agreed to be part of this pre-Valentines Day show!
